When it comes to cheaters, hotels provide a perceived level of secrecy, security, and a safe haven away from their partners and spouses. This allows them the ability to partake and engage in activities away from their primary home. Here's a story:
I once worked as a hotels reservation agent and I got a call from a man whom wanted to make a reservation at a hotel. He selected a room type, I gave him a price, and got his approval to book the room. I began to make his reservation asking for his name, phone number, and email address for confirmation. He had asked if he could use ApplePay to pay for the room or cash and I told him a link could be sent to him for ApplePay but first I had to get some billing details. The next part of the script was to ask for the name exactly how it appears on the credit card he is using which he gave, but when it came down to the address this is where he paused, became hesitant and asked if I would be sending any receipt or statement to the address. I thought it was quite an odd question to ask but I told him no, this is to verify that the name and address matches with the card that you are using, for scam and fraud prevention. I didn't think I would have to explain this to a customer, as most people understand why it is done. He gave me the information, I proceeded with the recap of the booking and told him to have a nice day. Something in my spirit had a thought that something wasn't right. So I took it upon myself to do a Google search using his name and email. I also noticed that there was a trucking company attached to his name. I thought to myself, "Oh he's a trucker." and of course the common stereotype of those whom are in the trucking industry. So I dug a bit further and I found his social media. Next thing you know, I was on his wife's page looking at the pictures of them and their kids. I thought to myself, "This man has most likely booked a stay at a hotel in the next city over and planning to cheat on his wife. Also, Apple Pay transactions still show up on bank accounts. I shook my head and closed the browser and proceeded to book more reservations.
